My Son Got His Haircut For Free

This is my oldest son getting his haircut. He has a very thick and curly hair. Since the weather is getting warmer and his hair is getting longer, we thought it's the best time for him  to get a haircut. We asked him if he wanted one. At first, he said no, but then later he agreed. The Christian school where he and his middle brother attend to has a haircut policy and also  my son spend too long in front of the mirror fixing his hair. He would put styling cream and comb it over and over in a certain way. He won't even let me touch it. He would say "Mom don't mess up my hair, I work hard on it". In a few years, we're going to have a teenager in this household. Phew! Where the time went?

We purchased a hair cutting kit two years ago because I was not happy with how much we paid for one simple hair cut. I am very frugal mom and if there's a way I can save money, I'll do it. I have two older boys and a hubby who need hair cut two to three times a year. We would pay  $15 to $20 per hair cut plus a $5 dollar tip for each of my boy's Barbers. We are spending $50 to $60 per transaction. My boys don't need any styling, they are happy to get just a buzz cut and I think I can do it in the comfort of my home for free.

Hubby and I would take turn cutting our boys hair while my older son and I take our turn in cutting my hubby's hair. This time my husband gave him a haircut. It turned out okay and my son is no longer spending too much time in front of a mirror.

There were times my hubby would cut my son's hair then I do the finishing touches. I shave or trim the areas that the hair cutter can't reach like around the ears and neck.



We are not a pro but we do it very carefully and none of our kids cried yet because of how bad their haircut turn out to be, LOL.  I won't mind going to a haircut class to improve my skills. I would love to cut my boys hair with a nice style.  How about you? Do you cut your husband or your children's hair?

Simple And Easy Recipe


Hi awesome readers, how's your Monday going? It's  61ºF  here but it  has been cloudy and was raining since this morning. I'm glad it finally stopped, we would like to go out for a walk for some fresh air. We had a great lunch today. I made some delicious food that me and my kids love. They are very easy and my kids even helped me preparing them. I made Spicy noodle soup with mixed vegetables, Fresh vegetable salad with shredded rotisserie chicken and hard boiled egg and lastly Fried rice with mixed vegetables and shrimp. 


Spicy noodle soup with mixed vegetables

2 packs 3 oz Ramen noodles soup(any flavor) mine is chicken
4 cups of water
1/2 c mixed veges

Bring water to boil, add the noodles, the seasoning and the frozen mixed vegetables. Boil for 2 minutes, removed from the stove and served.

Fresh vegetable salad with shredded rotisserie chicken and hard boiled egg

3 cups ready to eat vegetable salad(store bought)
1/2 c crouton
2 tablespoon salad dressing
1 hard boiled egg(peeled)
1/4 c rotisserie  chicken

Mix everything in a bowl and you are ready to go. My rotisserie chicken was a left over from the weekend we bought from the store. I warm it up for a minute in the microwave before adding to my salad. Delicious and healthy, perfect for me, especially I am trying to lose weight and getting back to healthy diet. 


Fried rice with mixed vegetables and shrimp

my middle son's lunch: hard-boiled egg, noodles and fried rice

3 cups steamed rice
1/2 cup mixed vegetables(carrot, corn and green beans)
1/2 precooked shrimp
1/4 c onions(cubes) 
6 cloves garlic
black pepper and salt 
bacon bits( sprinkle only)
1 tablespoon soy sauce

Saute garlic and onion, add the rice and continue stirring until spices are evenly distributed. Add shrimp and mixed veges, cooked for 3 minutes while occasional stirring it to not burn the rice. Season with black pepper, soy sauce, salt and bacon bits, stir, removed from the stove and serve. 

My 6 month old baby love fried rice and enjoyed the vegetables especially the green beans. I hope you all have a great afternoon. Bon Appetit!

Happy Resurrection Day

To all my awesome readers, I hope you all had a wonderful Resurrection Day or to some call it Easter. It was cloudy and rainy but we went to see my husband's side of the family for lunch. My kids were very happy to see their Grandma, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. We traveled almost three hours and met them in a restaurant. It was all worth it, we loved the food and enjoyed chatting with them. We will miss them, not sure when we are gonna see them again. We wish they live closer.

My 10 Month Old Baby's Milestone


My baby keeps growing and there's nothing I can do to stop him. I can't even stop the time let alone his growth, I just have to seize all the opportunity I have to enjoy each and every milestone he has. He is now 10 months old restless, happy and always smiling little peanut. My husband loves to call him Smiley. He's so adorably good baby and we always get compliments from people about him. 


At his age, he does these following 

  • crawl and creep anywhere
  • climb stairs(with adult supervision) by himself
  • sit up without support
  • feed himself
  • looking around for toys he dropped
  • he turns his head when we call his name
  • clap his hand and give us high five
  • stand by himself for few seconds
  • move around while holding on the furnitures
  • he gets upset when he is separated from me( Mama's boy?) lol
  • tries to communicate by making sound or noise while looking at us
  • he drinks through sippy cup and he knows how to drink using a straw


I also noticed he does not like eating puree anymore. A few weeks ago I introduced rice and few vegetables(carrot, corn and green beans) and he liked it so much. I think  it changes his taste for food, he craves solid food more than the puree I used to make. He also likes spaghetti, banana, chicken apple sauce and soft bread. I made sure I cut them into small cubes so he won't choke. He also drinks fruit juices and water on his sippy cup and juice boxes with a straw.

We are so blessed that he is a very healthy and happy baby. He is such a blessing to people he comes in contact with because he is always ready to give them his sweet smile. All my boys are outgoing and happy anyway so I would say it comes in our blood ha ha. My hubby will say it's from his side of the family and i would disagree and say it's from my side. Anyway, I think happy kids are the result of happy marriage. I thank God for all the things He did and He is still doing in our lives.

I made some changes to improved the taste and make it healthier for people like me who have sweet tooth. I choose dark chocolate because it has a lot of healthy benefits and so is the coconut. 



Coconut Dark Chocolate Chip Cookie

Ingredients 

2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup unsalted softened butter
3/4 cup PreSweet Tagatose
3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon  NuNaturals Pure Liquid Vanilla NuStevia
2 eggs
2 cups  12 oz Hershey's Special Dark Chocolate Chips
1 1/2 cup sweetened coconut flakes


Procedure

1. Preheat the oven to 375°F
2. Stir together flour, baking soda and salt in a separate bowl or container. Beat butter, PreSweet Tagatose, brown sugar and Pure Liquid Vanilla NuStevia in a large bowl with mixer until creamy. Add eggs, beat well. Gradually add flour mixture, beating well. Stir in chocolate chips and sweetened coconut flakes.
3. Drop  one tablespoon of mixture onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool slightly, remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely.

Minecraft Sword For My Son

My two older boys are into Minecraft game. I don't know a lot about this game but from what I saw it's like a building game. According to my son, this game is a world of blocks, everything is made from blocks and then you have to do mining to survive.  When you mine you get the stuffs that you can use for building your world. I wish I can give you more details but I don't even play this kind of game. Anyway, my middle son saw a minecraft sword at the toy section when we went shopping last week. He was begging me to get him one but I told him to ask his dad first.


My hubby and I talked and we had decided that the only way we will get this toy for him is when he gets five green cards from school in a week. That means he has to get one green card each day. His teacher gives color coding for the childrens behavior and mood daily and green means he had a great day by following teacher's instructions, participating in activities and behaving well to other kids. My kids has a lot of toys already and they easily get tired of it. By implementing a reward system he'll learn to value the toys he got because he worked hard to earn it and also encouraging good behavior through reward. We generally don't do this reward thing, we always encourage our boys to be in their good behavior at school even without reward. They don't need to be rewarded all the time for doing good works but they always get praises and lots of love and kisses from us instead of material reward.

He kept counting how many days more he needed to get a total of five green cards. When Friday came, he was so excited that he made it. He got five green cards in a week. So, when we went shopping today, we bought the minecraft sword. He's the happiest boy in the world today.



The minecraft sword cost $19.99 at Walmart and it's made from foam. It's  a good quality and safe toy for my boys to play and share with. If your kids are into minecraft, I'm pretty sure they will love this minecraft sword.

Our First Spring Family Bonding Part 1


After our lunch at Beanies, we went to the newly built Coal Dock park in Port Washington for a walk. It was perfect day for  long walks and Frisbee game. Can't remember when was the last time we went out for a walk as a family. This years winter seems so long and the coldest that we experienced and  so we hibernated as much as we can.


























So when the weather  got warmer and  beautiful as this, we were so  thrilled. Not only this park so beautiful and relaxing but also my kids had a great time playing Frisbee too. 

This is the WWII memorial, surrounded with bricks where names of the WWII veterans were written. We were in fact looking for my hubby's friends father who served as a navy during WWII . It took us probably 20 minutes to find his name and we felt so proud when we finally found his name.

























What makes this park unique is the landscaping. It has wood bridges and board walks. Also you get to see the beautiful Lake Michigan. That's the lighthouse behind them.



























A lot of people came out that day fishing. My oldest son and I used to come and fish on this area  before it was developed. Now, we can't wait to come and do our fishing hobby again especially it looks better, cleaner and safer.



























Ahhh what a good day we had, we spent five hours bonding as family on that day. Dear readers, if you happen to visit Wisconsin, make sure you visit Port Washington. This city has a lot to offer and will truly make your trip worth while.

Our First Spring Family Bonding Part 1

Spring has sprung and I can totally feel and see it after a long and very cold winter months.  We had a lovely day today, it was sunny, the sky was blue and a lot of people were out and about taking advantage of the beautiful weather. Although it was still a bit chilly, we've seen a lot of people walking, jogging and fishing. 

My husband came home yesterday after a long trip out West. We decided to go out for lunch  and then we walked around the newly built Coal Dock park near WE energies in Port Washington, Wisconsin. 

For lunch we went to Beanies Restaurant in Port. We had no clue what food they served because we've never been to Beanies before.

We didn't know what to expect but the moment we stepped in, we were astonished of what we saw. It was beautiful inside, lots of colorful decorations and art works. Beanies specializes  in Mexican food and drinks, although nobody spoke Spanish to us, but through their food we felt we were in Mexico.

They served unlimited nachos with spicy salsa as an appetizer, we all loved it. While we were waiting for our foods, there were group of university students probably about 10 who came over for lunch. I forgot the name of the university but they were here in town for a group singing event. They started singing a cappella but I failed to record a video. They had  beautiful voices that everyone who were there halted eating and just enjoyed listening to their relaxing and uplifting song. 


My oldest son ordered a jumbo size taco with beans and rice, my hubby ordered burger with fries, I ordered chicken tenders with rice and beans on the side and my middle son got hot dog sandwich and fries.




We spent about $42 for all our food and drinks plus $7 tip,  it's all worth the money. The  food were delicious, the place was clean, great customer service and it was a fun place for the kids too, look at the different hanging piñata.

Spring Has Sprung And So Is My Losing Weight Plan

The weather was lovely yesterday, the sun was out and I saw kids playing outside of the school park. The snow had finally melted, been melting slowly since these past days which is good because there's no worry about flooding due to large amount of snow melting. As the spring has finally sprung and so my motivation to start losing weight. I have to get back on the right track health wise. My pre-pregnancy weight was 116 lbs and during my pregnancy it went up to over 170 lbs until I gave birth. Nine months  after giving birth which is today, I weigh 145 lbs, still heavier than my ideal weight for a 5'4 inches tall woman. As a breastfeeding mom, I always have an excuse not to watch how much I eat and also to avoid exercising. 

Well, to be fair to myself I have noticed that whenever I ate less food my milk supply  would decrease. Also, I read that when you exercise your milk will taste bitter. Anyway, no more alibis for me starting today. I will start eating a right portion of food and drink more fluids to have a good and stable milk supply and then breastfeed before doing my exercise. Also, I am no longer babysitting which gives me more time to do things I love to do.

I was doing zumba on wii before I got pregnant. Why wii zumba? It's fun, i love how physically intense it is and I can do it in the comfort of my home. I don't mind joining zumba class too with other people but I just don't want to pay any membership. Zumba is just one of the things I like to do because I also like walking, running, fishing, singing, and the list goes on. I love life, everyday I am thankful to God of my life and the life of people around me. I love being out and about all the time. I enjoy being a mom and a wife and there is nothing more I could wish for. I have a happy marriage, happy kids, great friends anywhere and a very supportive and prayerful church family. 

Anyway back to zumba on wii, I choose to do the 10 minutes dance but could not even finish it because as soon as I started dancing, my youngest son also started fuzzing.

There he is, crawling all over me. I just started dancing a minute ago lol. I tried to put him on the crib but he won't stop crying.


I picked him up and put him on the floor but he then hold on to my leg and stood up wanting to be held. I can't even move, I was scared I might hurt him accidentally.


So I picked him up and danced with him, boy was he so happy. I put him back on the floor and he started crying again, so I held him on my arm back and he was laughing and so happy. I figured out he wanted to do zumba too.

 I didn't last, my son was heavy and my arm was sore. Only did my zumba for 3 to 4 minutes lol.

Oh well, hopefully I can do it longer next time and I found out he was just actually sleepy and wanting some attention. I'll keep you updated everyweek to my losing weight plan and show you my progress. I know I have to work hard on achieving my goal but same time having fun too.
