#NuNaturals PreSweet™ Tagatose Review + Recipe

Another awesome and healthy product NuNaturals offered me for review is their PreSweet Tagatose. This made my cookies soft,moist, tasty and irresistible ha ha. Why irresistible? Because my hubby and kids kept coming back for more. I had to be the cookie police officer to make sure they won't have more than two cookies a day. My hubby confessed of having three or four cookies a day without my knowledge and I asked him why. He said, it was so delicious, he added that the cookies were calling his name that he couldn't resist it. LOL. 

NuNaturals sent me a cup of PreSweet Tagatose, it's like a granulated sugar but the difference is that this one doesn't have a bitter after taste, low in calorie and way much healthier than the store brand. This product is good for Diabetics and I will tell you why. Keep scrolling down.

This is what I learned about PreSweet Tagatose


PreSweet Tagatose is safe for diabetics because it will not raise blood sugar levels. It is also being studied for other health benefits.
One of the health benefits of PreSweet is that it is a prebiotic ingredient. Prebiotics feed probotic bacteria like acidopholis found in yogurt. Prebiotics help the good bacteria in the digestive system multiply. This improves the overall health of the digestive system and may improve the general health of the body.
PreSweet Tagatose is a naturally-occurring sweetener found in milk, fruits and vegetables. It is 92% as sweet as sugar. PreSweet is a low calorie (6 calories/serving), low GI (3 on the glycemic index), and low in carbohydrates (especially considering that many of the carbohydrates are not digested).
PreSweet is anti-hyperglycemic and great for those on weight loss programs because it will satsify your sweet tooth without adding the calories that sugar will.
Unlike sugar alcohols like Xylitol and Erythritol, PreSweet Tagatose browns like sugar. Because it brown quicker and darker than sugar, you might consider blending it with other sweeteners in cakes and cookies or reduce baking time.

While Xylitol has a unique cooling taste and Erythritol has a distinctive taste, Tagatose as a very clean, neutral taste like sugar.

After reading what this product is all about, I feel in love with it. Not only it made my cookies delectable but also the shelf life is longer. After two weeks, my cookies are still soft and delicious. I've asked my hubby if he could get me this sugar so I could  bake a lot of cookies for Christmas. I am going to giveaway cookies to friends and family and I am sure they will all love it.

Here is the recipe I came up with using PreSweet Tagatose, but usually you can find this recipe at the back of Hershey's Perfect Special Dark Chocolate Chip Cookies 12 oz  bag. I made some changes to improved the taste and make it healthier for people like me who have sweet tooth. I choose dark chocolate because it has a lot of healthy benefits and so is the coconut. 



Coconut Dark Chocolate Chip Cookie

freshly baked cookies

Ingredients 

2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup unsalted softened butter
3/4 cup PreSweet Tagatose
3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon  NuNaturals Pure Liquid Vanilla NuStevia
2 eggs
2 cups  12 oz Hershey's Special Dark Chocolate Chips
1 1/2 cup sweetened coconut flakes


Procedure

1. Preheat the oven to 375°F
2. Stir together flour, baking soda and salt in a separate bowl or container. Beat butter, PreSweet Tagatose, brown sugar and Pure Liquid Vanilla NuStevia in a large bowl with mixer until creamy. Add eggs, beat well. Gradually add flour mixture, beating well. Stir in chocolate chips and sweetened coconut flakes.
3. Drop  one tablespoon of mixture onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool slightly, remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely. 

The aroma of  Pure Liquid  Vanilla NuStevia made these delicious cookies so enticing  that you couldn't wait to sample it as soon as it's out from the oven. I got a lot of compliments with these recipe and this will be my Christmas gifts to loved ones and friends this year. Thank you NuNaturals!

  3. I have never heard of this sugar substitute, but it sounds like a good alternative to support a healthy blood sugar level. . . even if you aren't necessarily diabetic.

  14. I am a big fan of anything with probiotics in them because it's good for digestion. This is the first time I have heard of this brand. I'll check this one out when I'm in the US. We don't have that here. :)
