Spaghetti With Ground Beef And Sausage

Today was the first day of summer school program in my area. I got up around 6 am feeling excited but  a bit nervous for my 6 yr old son because there were many things he will be doing for the first time without me around. This is his first time attending the Summer School Program and also riding a school bus to school and back home.  I am also concern that he'll get lost and won't be able to find his classrooms for each of the classes he is taking. The bright side is, he is not alone, he has a big brother who is going too and this is his 3rd time. He knew the drill, where to ask help for direction and what number to look for, for their classrooms and buses. Although they're not going to be in the same classes but they will be in the same school buses. So somehow it gave me some relief but I did pray for my sons safety and that everything will turn out okay. Thank God, all went well and my sons had a great time at school.

I know they're gonna come home tired and hungry because their last class will end at 12:30. Since they love spaghetti, I decided to make Spaghetti with Ground Beef and Sausage for lunch. I wanted to make them feel happy and show them that I am proud of them. Very easy to make yet delicious, made my kids happy and their day complete. So here I am sharing the recipe just in case you want to try make one.

What you need:

16 oz ground beef
2 pcs sausage(sliced thinly)
16oz Rotini noodles
1 jar 45oz Chunky(Garden Combination)Pasta Sauce
1/4 c red onion(minced)
6 cloves garlic(minced)
cumin, black pepper and salt(use sparingly for flavoring)
shredded cheese
2 tablespoon vegetable oil

Procedure:

  • Cook Rotini noodles according to the box instructions
  • Saute  garlic and onion in a deep size cooking pot on a medium heat. Add the ground beef, stir. Sprinkle black pepper, salt and cumin while stirring constantly to avoid burning the meat, until they are evenly cooked.
  • Add the Pasta sauce, stir and let it simmer. Add the sausage and the pre-cooked rotini noodles, stir until noodles are fully covered with pasta sauce
  • Simmer for 3 minutes, don't forget to stir occasionally, remove from the fire
  • Serve with sprinkled cheese on top

See! Very easy, delicious, healthy and so full of flavor. Bon Appetit !

  3. That looks good, quick and easy. I can understand you worrying about young children. They are so innocent and can get lost and freak out. And, thus, so does the parent.

  20. Congratulations on your son's first day. I think it is always harder for the parents than it is on the child. We picture all the things that COULD go wrong and most children just don't have those fears. This looks like a great lunch and I pinned it to try out later! Thanks for sharing!
